According to the RBI rules, all persons who have opened an account with SBI Bank are required to associate a mobile number with the account. And according to that directive, every customer has associated a mobile number with their bank account.

However, sometimes, the mobile number associated with the customer’s own bank needs to be changed. There are opportunities to change mobile number both online and offline. But due to the lack of time, we prefer the online method to change the mobile number. Now, most of the customers do not know how to change mobile number in SBI online or offline.

This bank offers three ways to change the mobile number of its customers.
1) With Internet Banking
2) Visiting the bank
3) From SBI ATMs

how to change mobile number in SBI with Internet Banking:

Customers can easily change previously registered mobile number with the help of internet banking service. However, the customer needs to have this service. So let’s see how customers can change their mobile number with the help of Internet Banking.

1) First of all, the customer will have to access the SBI Internet Banking website by clicking the link given here.

2) Then the customer will have to open his online bank account by clicking on the login option by entering the username and password.

3) After logging in to the online bank account, the customer will have to click on the ‘Profile‘ option and need to select the ‘Personal details / mobile‘ option.

4) On the next page, the customer will have to enter his profile password and click on ‘submit‘ button.

5) In this page, the customer can see his / her name, email id, mobile number, etc. There will be two options besides the mobile number. In that case, the customer has to select the second option, which is Change Mobile Number-Domestic only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Center) and need to click on the ‘submit‘ button.

6) Here a new page will open where the customer will have to enter his new mobile number and click on ‘submit‘ button.

7) In the next page, there will be three modes, from which the customer has to choose how he wants to change the mobile number. After selecting the desired mode, click on the ‘proceed‘ button. The options are:

By OTP on both the Mobile Numbers
IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM
Approval through Contact Centre

If Select, By OTP on both the Mobile Numbers:

  • After selecting the first mode, the customer will have to click on the proceed button. A new page will open here.
  •  Here, the customer will have to select the bank account and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.

  • On the next page, select the ATM Card and click on the ‘Proceed’ button.

  • Now Here, the customer will have to click on the ‘Pay’ button by entering all the information about his/her ATM card.

  • At the same time, a message will appear on the screen saying ‘Your request is pending.’

  • Now a reference number with the OTP will be sent from the bank on the old and new numbers of the customer.
  • After this, the customer will have to send the reference number with the OTP to 567676 in the following format “ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number>” from those two mobile numbers. Of course, the massage must be sent within 4 hours.

If Select, IRATA : Internet Banking Request Approval through ATM:

  • After selecting the second mode and clicking on the proceed button, a new page will be open.
  • Here select the bank account and click on the proceed button.
  • Next, the customer will have to select the ATM card and click on the proceed button again.
  • In this new page, the customer will have to click on the ‘Pay’ button by entering all the information wants to know about the ATM card.
  • Then there will be a message on the screen that says ‘Your request is pending.’
  •  A reference number with an OTP will be sent from the bank in the new mobile number of the customer.
  • Now the customer needs to visit any SBI ATM.
  • Then swipe the ATM card and select the ‘Service’ option and enter the transaction pin.
  •  Now Select the ‘Others’ tab on the screen and choose ‘Internet Banking Request Approval’ option.
  •  Upon successful completion, the customer’s new mobile number will be updated on the account. After confirmation, a message will be sent from the bank to the customer’s new mobile number.

If Select, Approval through Contact Center:

  • After selecting the third process and clicking on the ‘Proceed‘ button, a new page will be opened.
  • Customers need to select their bank account on the new page and click on the ‘proceed‘ button.
  • On the next page, select the ATM Card option and click on the ‘Proceed‘.
  • Now on this new page, the customer will have to click on the ‘Pay’ button to enter all the information want to know about his/her ATM card.
  • On the screen, a message will appear, which is ‘Your request is pending.’
  • After that, Bank will be sent a reference number with including OTP to the customer’s new mobile number.
  • Within three days, the customer will receive a phone call from the contact center. The contact center parson will ask the customer for the reference number sent from the bank. Also, ask some information related to the account.
  • If all the information provided by the customer is correct. New mobile will be updated with the bank within 1 hour.

how to change mobile number in SBI by visiting any ATM:

Customers can update the mobile number by visiting any ATM. All the steps for changing the mobile number through ATM are discussed below.

  • First, the customer needs to visit any nearest SBI ATM.
  •  After swiping the ATM card in the machine, select the ‘Registration’ option.
  •  Now enter the PIN of the ATM and select the ‘Mobile Number Registration’ option.
  • On the next screen, select the ‘Change Mobile Number’ option.
  • Enter the old Mobile Number, which already linked with the account and click on the correct button. Then re-enter the old number on the next screen and click on the correct button to verify it.
  • In the next screen enter the new Mobile Number which wants to update and click on the correct button. Then re-enter the number and click on the correct button again.
  • Now it takes some time to process the request. Immediately a message will be sent from the bank which contains a reference number with an OTP in the customer’s old number.
  • After that, the customer will have to send the reference number with the OTP to 567676 in the following format “ACTIVATE <8 digit OTP value> <13 digit reference number>” from his old mobile number within 4 hours.
  • The new number will be added with the bank account within 48 hours.

how to change mobile number in SBI by visiting Branch:

  • First, the customers will have to visit the branch of SBI, in which he opened the account.
  • Then, customers need to fill a form to change the mobile number.
  • Within seven days of submitting the application, the mobile number provided by the customer is linked to the bank account.
